Elizabeth Yarbrough

Attorney and Mediator

For over twenty years, I have dedicated my practice to helping clients in all aspects of family law.  Seventeen years ago, I was listed by the Tennessee Supreme Court as a Family Mediator and fourteen years ago, I completed my training in Collaborative Practice and became a Collaborative Divorce Professional allowing me to represent numerous clients in collaborative cases.  As an early member and supporter of the Memphis Collaborative Divorce Alliance (then named Memphis Collaborative Alliance), I have served in leadership roles on the Board of Directors of the Alliance and worked to promote knowledge of the collaborative process in the Greater Memphis community by educating other attorneys and allied professionals (mental health professionals and financial professionals) about the tremendous advantages available to parties and their children through the collaborative divorce process.

While my practice involves inevitable litigation, I approach all cases with a focus on helping clients identify and implement sensible and fair resolutions by agreement when and where they can.  Whenever possible I recommend the collaborative process.  I have seen this process help so many clients resolve their divorces in ways that benefit both parties and their children, by supporting the family through a stressful transition, preserving and strengthening co-parenting relationships, conserving the family’s financial resources, and maintaining the parties’ privacy and dignity.   If the collaborative process is not available, my dispute resolution focus enables me to litigate wisely.  I utilize strategic negotiation, creative problem solving and mediation in an effort to allow clients to stay out of the courtroom while still achieving a desired outcome.

I represent clients in all types of Family Law matters throughout Tennessee.  My office is in Shelby County, and I have always served clients in West Tennessee, primarily in Memphis, Shelby County, Tipton County and Fayette County.  In response to the pandemic restrictions, in 2020, I created a fully remote office in addition to my “brick and mortar” office located in Germantown, Tennessee, which has allowed me to serve clients statewide both as an Attorney and Mediator.

I am married to Matt and together we have two children and two dogs.
